Free radical polymerization is a type of chain growth polymerization where the polymer is formed by consecutive addition of unsaturated monomer molecules to an active free radical center. The carbon carbon double bond in a vinyl monomer like ethylene has a pair of electrons which is very easily attacked by the free radical. Vinyl acetate is a reactive monomer which may undergo a free radical chain polymerization phenomenon under constant temperature conditions.
